Sulforaphane is the cruciferous isothiocyanate 1-isothiocyanato-4-(methylsulfinyl)butane (CAS 4478-93-7; C6H11NOS2, molecular weight 177.29), the active released from broccoli and broccoli sprouts. It is supplied as a stabilised active or as a standardised sprout extract, HPLC-assayed, because the free isothiocyanate is otherwise reactive and heat-sensitive. Unlike the family's precursor grade, glucoraphanin, it is the formed isothiocyanate itself rather than the intact glucosinolate that releases it through myrosinase. We manufacture it in capsules, tablets and powders.
