Ferrous Bisglycinate

Iron(II) bis(glycinate)

Ferrous bisglycinate is an iron(II) amino-acid chelate (CAS 20150-34-9, C4H8FeN2O4) in which a single ferrous ion is coordinated by two glycine molecules in a 1:2 iron-to-ligand ratio. It is produced synthetically by reacting an iron(II) source with glycine, and supplied as a chelated fine powder (for example the Ferrochel grade). Unlike the family's simple inorganic salts such as ferrous sulfate or the organic-acid salts, the iron sits inside the glycine ligands rather than existing as a free ionic species; chelate grades typically carry around 20% elemental iron, with the anhydrous formula corresponding to roughly 27%. We manufacture it in capsule, tablet, powder, liquid and gummy formats.
