Sodium Ascorbate

Sodium L-ascorbate

Sodium Ascorbate is the sodium salt of ascorbic acid, sodium L-ascorbate (CAS 134-03-2, C6H7NaO6, MW 198.11), produced synthetically to USP/FCC grade. Neutralizing the acidic proton with sodium yields a pH-neutral, buffered ascorbate that is highly water-soluble, distinguishing it from the acidic free-acid form. Because a sodium counter-ion replaces that proton, its molecular weight is higher than ascorbic acid and it contributes sodium in addition to ascorbate, unlike the calcium, magnesium or potassium salts that each carry their own mineral. It is a white crystalline powder that we manufacture in capsule, tablet, powder and liquid formats.
