Citric Acid Anhydrous

2-Hydroxypropane-1,2,3-tricarboxylic acid

Citric Acid Anhydrous is the water-free crystalline form of 2-hydroxypropane-1,2,3-tricarboxylic acid (CAS 77-92-9), a tricarboxylic organic acid with the formula C6H8O7 and a molecular weight of 192.12. It is produced by microbial submerged fermentation and purified to a USP/FCC/E330 grade of at least 99.5% on an anhydrous basis. Unlike the family's monohydrate grade, this form carries no water of crystallization, giving it the lower molecular weight of the two and a correspondingly higher acid content per unit mass, which suits dry blends where added moisture is undesirable. It is supplied as a free-flowing crystalline powder. We manufacture it into powder, tablet, capsule, gummy and liquid dosage formats.
