Vanadyl sulfate is the vanadium(IV) sulfate salt, oxovanadium sulfate (CAS 27774-13-6; VOSO4, MW 163.00 anhydrous), and the most common supplemental vanadium source. The anhydrous salt carries about 31% vanadium, but it is usually supplied as a blue hydrate assaying around 17 to 23% vanadium. The vanadium sits in the +4 (vanadyl) oxidation state, distinguishing it from the +5 sodium metavanadate, and it is a water-soluble inorganic salt rather than an organic complex such as the acetylacetonate or maltolato forms. We manufacture it into capsules, tablets and powder blends.
