Pantethine

Pantethine (bis-pantetheine disulfide)

Pantethine (CAS 16816-67-4) is the disulfide dimer of pantetheine, a downstream derivative of pantothenic acid on the coenzyme A pathway, with the molecular formula C22H42N4O8S2 and a molecular weight of 554.72. It is produced synthetically and assayed by HPLC. Structurally it is two pantetheine units, each a pantothenic acid joined to cysteamine, linked through a disulfide bond, so it carries two sulfur atoms and a higher molecular weight than the simple pantothenate salts and panthenol. As a premium, hygroscopic material it is often supplied as roughly 80% in water. We manufacture it in capsule, tablet, softgel and powder formats.
