N-Acetyl-L-Glutamine

N-alpha-Acetyl-L-glutamine

N-Acetyl-L-Glutamine, also known as aceglutamide, is the N-alpha-acetylated derivative of L-glutamine (CAS 2490-97-3; C7H12N2O4, molecular weight 188.18). It is chemically synthesized by acetylation of the alpha-amino group of L-glutamine and supplied as a crystalline powder. The acetyl substituent distinguishes it from the underivatized free-form amino acid and from the L-alanyl-L-glutamine dipeptide: it is a single modified amino acid rather than a peptide, and the added acetyl group both lowers its glutamine mass fraction relative to free-form glutamine and gives it greater stability than the free amino acid. We manufacture it in powder and capsule formats.
