Calcium ascorbate is a buffered, non-acidic calcium salt of L-ascorbic acid (calcium L-ascorbate, CAS 5743-27-1, molecular weight 390.31), so a single salt carries both calcium, about 10% by weight, and ascorbate. It is produced synthetically to FCC grade by neutralizing ascorbic acid with a calcium source, which is what makes the finished salt pH-neutral rather than acidic. Its dual-component composition and low elemental calcium separate it from the single-component mineral salts such as carbonate, citrate and phosphate. It is supplied as a white to pale-yellow crystalline powder. We manufacture it in powders, capsules and tablets.
