Potassium Citrate

Tripotassium citrate monohydrate

Potassium citrate is the tripotassium salt of citric acid (CAS 6100-05-6), supplied as the monohydrate C6H5K3O7 H2O and manufactured from fermentation-derived citric acid neutralised with a potassium base. It is an alkaline salt, distinguishing it from the pH-neutral chloride, and delivers about 36% elemental potassium, an intermediate load between the inorganic chloride (~52%) and the organic-acid gluconate (~17%). Being highly water-soluble, it carries three potassium ions per citrate rather than the single ion of the gluconate. We manufacture it as a crystalline powder in tablets, capsules, powders and liquid formats, including effervescent systems.
