WS-23 is N,2,3-trimethyl-2-(propan-2-yl)butanamide (CAS 51115-67-4, C10H21NO, MW 171.28), a synthetic physiological cooling agent that triggers a cold sensation through the TRPM8 receptor. Unlike menthol it is essentially odourless and tasteless, so it delivers a clean cooling effect without a minty aroma, which distinguishes it from the menthol-derived WS-3. It is produced by chemical synthesis to a food grade of at least 98%. It is supplied as a white crystalline powder and manufactured into powders, liquids, gummies and chewable tablets.
