Sustamine is a stable dipeptide of L-alanine and L-glutamine in a 1:1 ratio (CAS 39537-23-0; C8H15N3O4, molecular weight 217.22), marketed under the Sustamine brand. It is manufactured by microbial fermentation and supplied as a powder. Because the glutamine is carried within a peptide bond rather than as a free amino acid, it is markedly more water-soluble and more stable in solution than free-form L-glutamine, though it carries a lower glutamine mass fraction per gram; unlike the N-acetyl derivative it is a two-amino-acid peptide rather than a modified single amino acid. Its solubility makes it suitable for liquid formats as well as dry blends, and we manufacture it in powder, capsule and liquid formats.
