Advantame

N-[N-[3-(3-hydroxy-4-methoxyphenyl)propyl]-L-alpha-aspartyl]-L-phenylalanine 1-methyl ester monohydrate

Advantame is a derivative of the aspartame dipeptide, N-[N-[3-(3-hydroxy-4-methoxyphenyl)propyl]-L-alpha-aspartyl]-L-phenylalanine 1-methyl ester, supplied as the monohydrate (CAS 714229-20-6, C24H30N2O7.H2O, MW 476.52), an ultra-high-intensity sweetener designated E969 and about 20,000 times sweeter than sucrose. It is produced by chemical synthesis and is the most potent sweetener in this range, so it is used at trace levels and, despite containing phenylalanine, needs no phenylketonuria declaration at its use levels. It is supplied as a white to light-yellow powder and manufactured into powders, tablets, gummies and liquids.
