Bamboo silica extract is a plant-derived silicon source prepared from bamboo (Bambusa species), in which the active component is silica, silicon dioxide (SiO2, CAS 7631-86-9). It is supplied as a standardised botanical extract rather than a single defined compound, commonly standardised to around 70% silica, which corresponds to roughly 33% elemental silicon. As a plant silica it is distinct from the synthetic silicate salts and the soluble orthosilicic-acid preparations. It is an off-white to pale powder manufactured into capsules, tablets and powder blends.
