The two-piece hard capsule is the workhorse of the supplement world, a shell that closes around a dry fill and is ready to run almost as soon as the formula is finished. It suits powders, granules, pellets and multi-ingredient blends, and because the fill is simply held inside the shell it often needs no binders, coatings or compression, which keeps the ingredient list short and clean-label friendly. Brands choose it when they want the quickest, lowest-risk route from a finished blend to a finished dose, or when an active is sensitive to the heat and pressure a tablet press applies. Shells come in gelatin or plant-based HPMC, so the same formula can serve a standard or a vegetarian range, and a full ladder of sizes matches the shell to the dose. We fill each capsule by weight to keep the declared amount consistent from the first unit to the last. Across single actives, complex blends and pelletised systems it is the most flexible solid format we run, and at up to ten million capsules a day, one of the highest in volume.
The default home for single actives, multi-ingredient blends, granules and pellets. A dry formula is filled straight into the shell, so most blends need little more than accurate dosing to become a finished capsule. It handles simple and complex blends through the same process.
Because the fill is held inside the shell rather than compressed, a capsule often needs no binders, fillers or coatings. That keeps the ingredient list short, which matters for a clean-label positioning. What goes into the capsule is largely the formula itself.
Available in plant-based HPMC as well as gelatin, so the same formula can serve a standard or a vegetarian range. The HPMC shell behaves like gelatin on the line and in the hand. A brand can keep one capsule format across an animal-free product line.
A finished blend can move to a filled capsule quickly, with none of the compression or coating development a tablet needs. That makes it the fastest, lowest-risk route from formula to a manufacturable dose. It is often the format that gets a first product to market soonest.
Handles a wide range of doses, powder densities and multi-component fills, including combinations of powder and pellets in one shell. The fill weight is set to the dose the formula calls for. Few solid formats are as accommodating of what goes inside.
A full ladder of capsule sizes, from small shells to large, matches the capsule to the dose rather than forcing the dose to a fixed size. A higher-gram blend takes a larger shell, a compact active a smaller one. That range keeps the finished capsule sensibly sized for its fill.
