What each certification means, and why it matters

Independent certifications and registrations your teams can act on, each explained by what it covers and why it matters, not by the logo.

Each mark below, what it independently verifies, and where you can check it.

FSSC 22000
BRCGS
USDA Organic
FDA-registered facility
GMP
HACCP

NSF/ANSI 455-2: GMP for Dietary Supplements

Independently audited Good Manufacturing Practice written specifically for dietary supplements, incorporating US FDA 21 CFR Part 111. It is verifiable directly on NSF’s public database, which makes it a concrete external trust point during supplier evaluation rather than a claim you have to take on trust. For most buyers this is the strongest single mark on the wall, because it is both dietary-supplement-specific and publicly checkable.

  • Covers: GMP for dietary-supplement manufacturing

  • Incorporates: US FDA 21 CFR Part 111

  • Verify: directly on NSF’s public certification database

FSSC 22000: Food Safety System Certification

A GFSI-recognised food-safety management system built on ISO 22000, covering hazard control across the whole production chain rather than at a single step. Because it is recognised by the Global Food Safety Initiative, it is a benchmark importers and retailers accept worldwide. For a European buyer it is a familiar, internationally accepted signal that food-safety management here is systematic.

BRCGS: Global Standard for Food Safety

A GFSI-benchmarked global standard covering food safety, quality and operational control. It is widely required by UK and European retailers and by private-label buyers, so holding it removes a common barrier to supplying those channels. Where your own customers ask for a GFSI-recognised standard, this is one of the marks that satisfies the requirement.

USDA Organic: National Organic Program

Certification under the USDA National Organic Program means the facility is authorised to handle and produce certified-organic products to US federal organic standards. That authorisation is what is required to make an organic claim in the US market. It is a scope of certification held by the facility, not a statement about any single ingredient unless that product is produced under it.

GMP: Good Manufacturing Practice

Pharmaceutical-grade good manufacturing practice governing facility, process and record controls, the baseline discipline behind every batch we produce. GMP is the foundation the more specific certifications build on, the assurance that production is controlled, documented and repeatable.

HACCP: Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points

A systematic, preventive method that identifies food-safety hazards and controls them at the critical points in production where control is effective. Rather than relying on end-of-line inspection to find problems, HACCP is designed to prevent them arising. It is the food-safety foundation the other certifications sit on top of.

FDA-registered facility

Registration with the US FDA as a dietary-supplement manufacturing facility, a prerequisite for supplying the US market. Registration, not approval: the FDA registers supplement facilities, it does not approve supplements or the companies that make them.

Every mark here is one your teams can put in a supplier-qualification file. Where a public register exists, as it does for NSF, you can verify it at source, and where you need the certificate itself, we provide it on request.
