Ferrous succinate is the divalent iron salt of succinic acid (CAS 10030-90-7; C4H4FeO4, MW 171.92), carrying roughly 32% elemental iron, a load comparable to ferrous fumarate and above the gluconate and lactate grades. As an organic-acid ferrous salt it is moderately soluble and is supplied to pharmaceutical specifications. It is a reddish-brown to grey-brown powder manufactured into tablets and capsules.
