Eisen(II)-succinat ist das zweiwertige Eisensalz der Bernsteinsäure (CAS 10030-90-7; C4H4FeO4, MW 171.92) und enthält rund 32% elementares Eisen, eine Beladung vergleichbar mit Eisen(II)-fumarat und über den Gluconat- und Lactat-Qualitäten. Als Eisen(II)-salz einer organischen Säure ist es mäßig löslich und wird nach pharmazeutischen Spezifikationen geliefert. Es ist ein rotbraunes bis graubraunes Pulver, das zu Tabletten und Kapseln verarbeitet wird.
