Withaferin A (CAS 5119-48-2; C28H38O6; molecular weight 470.60) is a single steroidal-lactone withanolide isolated from Withania somnifera. Rather than a whole extract, it is purified to not less than 95% by HPLC as one defined compound and is supplied mainly as a high-purity reference substance. This isolate contrasts with every other grade in the family, which are multi-constituent root or root-and-leaf extracts standardized to total withanolides or to the withanolide-glycoside fraction rather than to a single molecule. It is supplied as a purified powder. We manufacture it in powder format.
