Silibinin (Silybin)

Silibinin (silybin A/B flavonolignan)

Silibinin, also called silybin, is the principal flavonolignan of the silymarin complex, isolated and purified from milk thistle (Silybum marianum) seed to a single-compound grade of at least 98% by HPLC (CAS 22888-70-6, C25H22O10, MW 482.44). Unlike the family's 80% silymarin and ratio-based extracts, which retain the full flavonolignan complex, this grade is a single defined molecule separated from the other silymarin constituents. It is therefore the most chemically defined form in the milk thistle range, distinct even from the silybin phytosome, which complexes the same molecule with phospholipid rather than supplying it neat. The isolate is a fine off-white to pale crystalline powder. We manufacture it in capsule, tablet and powder formats.
