Menadione Sodium Bisulfite (MSB)

Sodium 2-methyl-1,4-dioxo-3H-naphthalene-2-sulfonate

Menadione sodium bisulfite (CAS 130-37-0) is a water-soluble derivative of vitamin K3, the sodium sulfonate adduct formed by addition of sodium bisulfite across the menadione naphthoquinone, with the formula C11H9NaO5S and a molecular weight of 276.24 g/mol. It is produced by chemical synthesis and assayed on a menadione-equivalent basis at approximately 50% menadione content. Unlike free menadione, which is fat-soluble, this salt is water-soluble, and as a bisulfite adduct it carries a sulfites allergen declaration. It is supplied as a powder, the only format we offer. It is used chiefly in animal-feed and premix formulations.
