Natural Beta-Carotene (Blakeslea trispora) is beta,beta-carotene produced by mixed-strain fermentation of the fungus Blakeslea trispora (CAS 7235-40-7, EC 230-636-6; C40H56, MW 536.87). The fermentation route yields a predominantly all-trans isomer profile with only minor cis-isomers, contrasting with the 9-cis and all-trans mixture of the Dunaliella algal grade while sharing the all-trans-dominant character of the synthetic grade. After extraction from the fungal biomass the carotenoid is formulated as an oil suspension or beadlet standardized to a stated carotene percentage. We manufacture it in softgel, capsule, tablet and powder formats.
