Ferrous ascorbate is a salt/complex pairing iron(II) with ascorbate in a 1:2 ratio (CAS 24808-52-4, C12H14FeO12). It combines reduced +2 iron with two ascorbate anions in a single compound, so it differs from the family's mineral and organic-acid salts in that the counter-ion is itself ascorbate; elemental iron content is about 14%. It is produced synthetically and supplied as a powder. We manufacture it in tablet, capsule, liquid and powder formats.
