It is distinguished from the monohydrate and the inorganic salts by its organic pyruvate counter-ion, and from the tri-creatine malate and citrate forms by its 1:1 rather than 3:1 creatine-to-acid stoichiometry. It is manufactured synthetically and supplied as a crystalline powder. It is manufactured in powder and capsule formats.
