Beta-Alanine (CarnoSyn / SR CarnoSyn)

3-aminopropanoic acid

Beta-alanine is a non-proteinogenic beta-amino acid, 3-aminopropanoic acid (CAS 107-95-9, EC 203-536-5, C3H7NO2, MW 89.09), distinguished from the alpha-amino acids by carrying its amino group on the beta carbon rather than the alpha carbon. It is manufactured by chemical synthesis and supplied as a free amino acid at typically 98-99% purity, and is a structural constituent of the dipeptide carnosine. As the free acid it carries no counter-ion, no acetyl or ester group and no water of crystallization, so the material is a single-component crystalline powder with a high amino-acid mass fraction per gram rather than a salt, ester or blend. We source both the patented CarnoSyn instant-release grade and the SR CarnoSyn sustained-release grade, which are the same molecule and differ only in the delivery format, not in chemistry. In powder form we manufacture it into bulk powders, capsules and tablets.
