Calcium Ascorbate is the calcium salt of ascorbic acid, calcium L-ascorbate dihydrate (CAS 5743-28-2, C12H18CaO14, MW 426.34), manufactured to USP/FCC grade as the dihydrate. It is a pH-neutral, buffered, water-soluble ascorbate in which one divalent calcium ion bridges two ascorbate units, so each gram carries both ascorbate and elemental calcium. This mineral-bearing chemistry sets it apart from the monovalent sodium and potassium ascorbates and from the acidic free-acid form; its higher molecular weight gives it a lower ascorbic acid fraction per gram than the pure acid. It is a white crystalline powder produced in capsule, tablet and powder formats.
