Ester-C is a branded, buffered calcium ascorbate complex whose principal component is calcium L-ascorbate (identifiers CAS 5743-28-2, C12H18CaO14, MW 426.34) together with small amounts of naturally occurring vitamin C metabolites such as calcium threonate. It is produced by a proprietary process that yields a pH-neutral, non-acidic, water-soluble calcium ascorbate accompanied by these trace metabolites, which distinguishes it from plain calcium ascorbate and from the single-molecule ascorbic acid and other ascorbate salts. Like calcium ascorbate, it carries elemental calcium alongside ascorbate and shares the molecular weight of its main component. It is a powder manufactured into capsule, tablet and powder formats.
