French maritime pine (Pinus pinaster) bark extract. This is a generic contract-manufacturing grade standardized to >=95% proanthocyanidins (OPC) by UV assay, the highest marker level among the maritime pine bark extracts in this family. It is a whole standardized extract, not a single isolated compound, and is defined by a minimum marker percentage rather than by the fixed 65-75% range of the branded Pycnogenol and Oligopin grades or by a drug-to-extract ratio. It differs from the sister 85% grade only in its higher guaranteed proanthocyanidin content. It is supplied as a fine reddish- to tan-brown powder that we manufacture into capsules, tablets and bulk or blended powders.
