Niacin (Vitamin B3)

Niacinamide (Nicotinamide)

Pyridine-3-carboxamide

Niacinamide, also called nicotinamide, is the amide form of vitamin B3, chemically pyridine-3-carboxamide (CAS 98-92-0, C6H6N2O, molecular weight 122.12). It is manufactured synthetically and supplied to USP/FCC grade at not less than 99.0% assay. It differs from nicotinic acid by replacing the free carboxylic-acid group with a carboxamide, which gives freely water-soluble, pH-neutral solutions rather than the acidic solutions of the free acid, while keeping essentially the same low molecular weight and high niacin content per gram. Unlike the ester, riboside, nucleotide and dinucleotide forms it is a small single-ring molecule and is supplied as a crystalline powder. We manufacture it into capsules, tablets and powders.
