Sodium Feredetate (NaFeEDTA)

Sodium iron(III) ethylenediaminetetraacetate

Sodium feredetate is a sodium iron(III) ethylenediaminetetraacetate chelate (NaFeEDTA, CAS 15708-41-5, C10H12FeN2NaO8), commonly supplied as the trihydrate. Here the iron is held in the oxidised +3 state within an EDTA cage, a synthetic chelate structure distinct from both the amino-acid chelate ferrous bisglycinate and the family's simple ferrous salts. It is a water-soluble source carrying about 13% elemental iron as the trihydrate and roughly 15% anhydrous, and is a JECFA-evaluated fortificant. We supply it in liquid, tablet, capsule and powder formats.
