French maritime pine (Pinus pinaster) bark extract. This is Pycnogenol, a branded water-based extract (Horphag Research) sourced from bark of the Landes de Gascogne forest and standardized to 65-75% procyanidins (proanthocyanidins). It is a whole standardized extract rather than a single isolated compound, produced by an aqueous process and controlled to a defined procyanidin range instead of a drug-to-extract ratio. Compared with the generic 85% and >=95% OPC grades in this family it holds a lower, tightly defined marker band, and unlike the Oligopin grade it is not selectively enriched to the low-molecular-weight oligomer fraction. It is supplied as a fine, largely water-soluble reddish- to tan-brown powder, which we manufacture into capsules, tablets and standalone or blended powders.
