Nicotinamide Riboside Chloride (Niagen)

3-Carbamoyl-1-(beta-D-ribofuranosyl)pyridin-1-ium chloride

Nicotinamide riboside chloride is a riboside form of vitamin B3 in which nicotinamide is glycosidically bound to a beta-D-ribofuranose ring and isolated as its chloride salt, chemically 3-carbamoyl-1-(beta-D-ribofuranosyl)pyridin-1-ium chloride (CAS 23111-00-4, C11H15ClN2O5, molecular weight 290.70). It is manufactured by synthesis, assayed to not less than 98% by HPLC, and is the ingredient sold under the Niagen brand. Structurally it is a quaternary pyridinium salt considerably larger than nicotinic acid or niacinamide, water-soluble by virtue of its chloride counter-ion, and it is classified as an NAD+ precursor riboside rather than a simple acid or amide. We supply it as a powder and manufacture it into capsules, tablets and powders.
