Calcifediol (25-hydroxyvitamin D3)

Calcifediol; (3beta,5Z,7E)-9,10-secocholesta-5,7,10(19)-triene-3,25-diol

Calcifediol, or 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 (CAS 19356-17-3, C27H44O2, molecular weight 400.64), is the hepatic metabolite of cholecalciferol, offered as a pre-hydroxylated vitamin D ingredient that is typically produced from lanolin-derived D3. Chemically it differs from cholecalciferol (C27H44O, 384.64) by a single hydroxyl group at the 25-position, making it a diol rather than a mono-ol and raising its molecular weight accordingly. Because it is already hydroxylated, it is standardized by mass in micrograms with no IU conversion applied, unlike the D2 and D3 forms in this family. It is supplied in capsule, softgel and liquid formats.
