Green tea (Camellia sinensis), leaf. This grade is a single catechin, (−)-epigallocatechin gallate (CAS 989-51-5, C22H18O11, MW 458.37), isolated and purified from the leaf to at least 98%. Unlike the whole and enriched extracts in this family, which retain a spread of polyphenols and catechins, this is one defined compound rather than a standardized extract mixture. It is the most refined form in the green-tea line, one purification step beyond the EGCG-enriched Teavigo preparation. Supplied as a fine powder, it is manufactured into capsules, tablets, and powder blends.
