Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) root, processed into a generic commodity-grade extract. It is standardized to 2.5% total withanolides, assayed by gravimetry and HPLC, and serves as the unbranded baseline concentrate of the family. It differs from the branded KSM-66, Sensoril, and Shoden grades by its lower marker percentage, its non-proprietary commodity status, and its measurement of total withanolides rather than the withanolide-glycoside fraction. Compared with plain root powder it is a solvent-concentrated extract rather than milled whole root. It is supplied as a dry extract powder and manufactured in capsule, tablet, and powder formats.
