A dry extract of hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna) leaf and flower, standardized to 20% oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs). It is assayed against the proanthocyanidin fraction rather than the flavonoid markers used for the vitexin and total-flavonoid grades, so the same leaf-and-flower plant part is characterized by a different chemical class. This specification also sets it apart from the ratio-defined berry extract and the unstandardized whole-fruit powder in the family. Supplied as a dry extract powder, it is manufactured into capsules, tablets and powder.
