Microcrystalline Hydroxyapatite (MCHC)

Hydroxyapatite (pentacalcium hydroxide tris(phosphate))

Microcrystalline hydroxyapatite (MCHC) is a bovine bone-derived calcium source built on hydroxyapatite, pentacalcium hydroxide tris(phosphate) (Ca5(PO4)3(OH), CAS 1306-06-5), and retaining the native collagen matrix of the source bone. It is produced as a whole-bone extract, which is why it is an animal-origin, non-vegan ingredient, unlike every other form in this family. The mineral phase runs around 40% calcium, though the whole-bone ingredient is lower because of its collagen and protein content, and it carries phosphorus as part of the apatite structure. It is supplied as an off-white to cream powder. We manufacture it in capsules and tablets.
