A concentrated berry extract of hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna), produced from the dried fruit. It is defined by a 10:1 native drug-to-extract ratio, in which ten parts raw berry are reduced to one part extract, rather than by an assayed marker percentage. This ratio-based specification separates it from the leaf-and-flower grades in this family, which are standardized to fixed vitexin, total-flavonoid or proanthocyanidin figures, and from the whole berry powder, which carries no concentration at all. Supplied as a dry extract powder, it is manufactured into capsules, tablets, powder and liquid formats.
