Corn Xylitol is the same pentitol sugar alcohol xylitol, (2R,4S)-pentane-1,2,3,4,5-pentol, CAS 87-99-0, EC 201-788-0, C5H12O5, MW 152.15 (E967/INS 967). It is manufactured by catalytic hydrogenation of xylose obtained from corn-cob hemicellulose, followed by crystallisation to a USP/FCC pharmaceutical grade of at least 99% xylitol. It is molecularly indistinguishable from the birch grade, differing only in the hemicellulose feedstock (corn cob rather than hardwood). The material is a white crystalline solid comparable in particle size to the birch crystalline grade and coarser than the micronized powder, and it is not agglomerated like the directly compressible granulation. We supply it in powder, tablet, capsule and gummy formats.
