Magnesium Carbonate

Magnesium carbonate

Magnesium carbonate is the carbonate salt of magnesium (CAS 546-93-0; MgCO3, MW 84.31), occurring naturally as the mineral magnesite. Among the family it is second only to the oxide in elemental load, carrying about 29% elemental magnesium, and like the oxide it is poorly soluble in water. It is offered in light and heavy grades, and also as basic (hydrated) magnesium carbonate, the grades differing in bulk density and flow. It is a white powder manufactured into capsules, tablets and powder blends.
