Magnesium Lactate

Magnesium lactate

Magnesium lactate is the magnesium salt of lactic acid in a 1:2 magnesium-to-lactate ratio (CAS 18917-93-6; C6H10MgO6, MW 202.45), commonly supplied as the dihydrate. It is a water-soluble organic-acid salt carrying about 12% elemental magnesium, below citrate and malate but above the amino-acid chelates. Despite the name, the lactic acid is fermentation-derived rather than milk-derived, so the ingredient carries no dairy allergen. It is a white powder manufactured into tablets, capsules and powder blends.
