Menaquinone-7 (Vitamin K2 MK-7), fermentation

2-[(2E,6E,10E,14E,18E,22E)-3,7,11,15,19,23,27-Heptamethyloctacosa-2,6,10,14,18,22,26-heptaenyl]-3-methylnaphthalene-1,4-dione

This menaquinone-7 (CAS 2124-57-4) is a long-chain vitamin K2 with a seven-unit all-trans isoprenoid side chain, the longest tail in this family and the highest molecular weight at 649.0 g/mol. It is obtained by bacterial fermentation, classically from Bacillus subtilis natto grown on a soybean substrate, and standardized to all-trans MK-7 by HPLC. Because the fermentation substrate can be soy or natto, the material carries a soy allergen declaration, which is its principal difference from the synthetic MK-7 of identical structure. It is supplied as an oil concentrate or a dry powder. We manufacture it into softgels, capsules, tablets, powders and liquids.
