trans-Resveratrol (Synthetic)

(E)-5-[2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethenyl]benzene-1,3-diol (trans-3,5,4'-trihydroxystilbene)

Synthetic trans-resveratrol is the identical stilbenoid molecule, (E)-3,5,4'-trihydroxystilbene (CAS 501-36-0; C14H12O3, MW 228.24), assembled by chemical synthesis rather than isolated from a plant or fermentation broth. It is purified to at least 99% trans-resveratrol by HPLC, the highest assay in the family, and contains no botanical co-extractives. Structurally it is indistinguishable from the knotweed, grape and fermented grades, all of which are the same free stilbene aglycone; it differs from polydatin, which carries a bound glucose unit that raises its molecular weight to 390.4, and from pterostilbene, in which two hydroxyls are replaced by methoxy groups. It is supplied as a white to off-white crystalline powder. We manufacture it in capsules, tablets, softgels and powder blends.
