Ferrous Sulfate

Iron(II) sulfate heptahydrate

Ferrous sulfate is the classic inorganic iron(II) salt of sulfuric acid, most commonly supplied as the blue-green heptahydrate (CAS 7782-63-0, FeSO4·7H2O). As a simple water-soluble salt with the iron in the reduced +2 state, it differs from the family's amino-acid chelates such as ferrous bisglycinate and from the water-insoluble iron(III) forms. Elemental iron content depends on the hydrate, running near 20% for the heptahydrate and rising to roughly 33% for the dried/monohydrate and 37% for the anhydrous grade (anhydrous CAS 7720-78-7). It is manufactured to USP/EP specifications as a crystalline powder, and we supply it in tablet, capsule, liquid and powder formats.
