Heme Iron Polypeptide

Heme iron polypeptide (hemoglobin hydrolysate)

Heme iron polypeptide is an enzymatic hydrolysate of animal hemoglobin (bovine or porcine) in which the iron remains bound inside the porphyrin heme molecule rather than existing as a free salt or chelate. It is produced by enzymatically digesting hemoglobin into a standardized peptide-bound heme fraction, then assay-standardized to its heme iron content, which is low at roughly 1-2% by weight. As an animal-derived ingredient it is the only non-vegan form in the family; it is gluten-free but not suitable for vegan products. We manufacture it in capsule and tablet formats.
