Iron Polymaltose Complex

Iron(III)-hydroxide polymaltose complex

Iron polymaltose complex (IPC, CAS 53858-86-9) is a non-ionic complex of polynuclear iron(III)-hydroxide combined with polymaltose, a starch-derived carbohydrate (for example the Maltofer grade). Because the iron is held in the oxidised +3 state as a non-ionic polynuclear core rather than as a free ion, the material has an indefinite composition and is standardized to its labelled elemental iron content by assay rather than by a fixed formula. This distinguishes it technically from the family's stoichiometric salts and defined chelates. We supply it in tablet, liquid and capsule formats.
