El maltol férrico es un complejo definido de hierro trivalente con tres ligandos maltol por hierro, químicamente tris(maltolato) de hierro(III) (CAS 33725-54-1; C18H15FeO9, MW 431.15), suministrado bajo denominaciones orales de marca como Feraccru y Accrufer. Aporta alrededor de un 13% de hierro elemental, una carga baja característica de un complejo orgánico de tres ligandos en lugar de una sal simple como el sulfato o el fumarato ferroso. El ligando maltol se produce de forma sintética. Es un polvo de color rojo a pardo rojizo, que fabricamos en cápsulas.
