Chromium-enriched yeast is trivalent chromium biologically incorporated into inactivated Saccharomyces cerevisiae biomass grown in a chromium-enriched medium, so the chromium is cellular-bound within the yeast proteins rather than present as a defined salt or complex; branded grades include ChromoPrecise. Because it is a whole-biomass matrix it has no single molecular formula or CAS number and is standardized to labeled elemental chromium content, which is low and product-dependent at roughly 0.05 to 2% chromium, well below the inorganic chloride and the organic picolinate. Unlike the fully synthetic complexes in this family it is a microbial-fermentation ingredient and carries a yeast allergen declaration. It is supplied as a tan powder and manufactured in capsule, tablet and powder formats.
