Chromium Histidinate

Chromium(III) tris(histidinate)

Chromium histidinate is a trivalent chromium(III) complex in which the chromium ion is coordinated by three molecules of the amino acid L-histidine (tris-histidinate; formula C18H24CrN9O6, molecular weight 514.44). It is produced synthetically by reacting a chromium(III) source with L-histidine to form a defined amino-acid complex; no CAS number is assigned in our specification. Its elemental chromium content is approximately 10%, slightly below the picolinate and polynicotinate complexes, reflecting the heavier histidine ligand, and it differs from the inorganic chloride in being an organic amino-acid coordination compound rather than a simple salt. We supply it as a powder and manufacture it in capsule and tablet formats.
