Sodium Selenite

Sodium selenite (anhydrous)

Sodium selenite (CAS 10102-18-8, Na2O3Se, MW 172.95) is the water-soluble inorganic sodium salt of selenious acid, in which selenium sits in the +4 oxidation state. It is produced as a defined inorganic salt rather than a biologically bound organic form, and carries roughly 46% selenium by weight, a higher elemental load than the organic seleno-amino acids or the yeast matrix. It differs from sodium selenate in that its selenium is in the reduced +4 (selenite) state rather than the fully oxidized +6 (selenate) state, and from selenious acid in that it is the neutralized salt rather than the free parent acid. We supply it as a crystalline powder for tablets, capsules, powders and liquid formats.
