d-delta-tocotrienol (CAS 25612-59-3) is the delta homolog of the tocotrienol series and the predominant tocotrienol in annatto-derived extracts, which unlike palm and rice-bran sources are essentially tocopherol-free. It is the least methylated tocotrienol, giving it the lowest molecular weight of the series at 396.6 g/mol (C27H40O2), and like the other tocotrienols it carries an unsaturated three-double-bond side chain. It is isolated as a component of the tocotrienol complex and assayed by HPLC. As a free-phenol, fat-soluble oil it is manufactured into softgels, capsules and liquids.
